A Trio of Brands, Catering to Every Need - Rema, Prema, and Kex

MT-RSR is excited to announce the introduction of Rema TIP-TOP products to our world class lineup. Rema TIP-TOP was founded in 1923 in Germany and has since become the premier supplier of rubber repair materials, for both automotive and more general industry use. In the early 2000’s, the Prema and Kex subsidiaries were also founded to provide a budget-friendly soft cushion repair for the tire repair market. With these 3 brands, (Rema, Prema, & Kex) Rema TIP-TOP is able to provide a “Good, Better, Best” model to reach every corner of the industry.

Even though these brands share a good amount of history, it is important to remember to ALWAYS use the same brand cements and chemicals as your patch and plug brand. I.E. only use Kex patches with Kex chemicals, Prema with Prema, etc. These chemicals and patches are not designed to be interchangeable, and doing so will cause the patch to not properly vulcanize. Always follow RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) and TIA (Tire Industry Association) guidelines when inspecting, repairing, and installing tires.

Rema branded patches utilize a special “Blue Bonding System”, comprised of a blue hard cushion gum. The rubber in these patches is already 90% cured, which allows the Special Blue Cement to create a nearly indestructible bond between the patch material and the tire. These patches cold-vulcanize, meaning that heat and large amounts of pressure are not required to achieve a safe repair.

Prema and Kex branded patches use a soft cushion gum. Some technicians find the soft cushion gum easier to work and use. Unlike the Rema brand patches, these are not pre-cured – yet they still offer a tremendous value and provide a safe and permeant patch.

Rema, Prema, and Kex also offer a variety of tire mounting lubricants and compounds. The universal mounting paste (REM-75, REM-75N, KEX-1052, KEX-1052N) is by far the most popular for passenger vehicle applications, does not drip, will not discolor wheels, and is compatible with TPMS sensors. This paste is a great option for difficult to mount low-profile tires.

If you or your customers prefer a liquid lubricant, Rema TIP-TOP also provides multiple options. If you want a “Bead-Butter” Style liquid lube, which leaves no visible residue when dry (and can be diluted), use REM-2053B, REM-2054B, or REM-2055B. For a traditional Blue “Liquid Lube”, which has tremendous bead sealing capabilities, opt for the REM-81511, REM-81505, REM-81515, PRE-PLT-1G, PRE-PLTC-1G, KEX-81501C, or KEX-81505C. All of these Blue “Liquid Lube” options besides the Prema PRE-PTL-1G can be diluted in a 4:1 ratio or used as is. The “Bead Butter” style can be used as is or diluted 2:1.
